Dollu Kunitha

When you photograph people in color you photograph their clothes…But when you photograph people in Black and White, you capture their souls – Ted Grant

The above photo was taken during Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations in my office. The people above are dressed in their traditional attire for the famous Dollu Kunitha dance.  As the programmes of the day did not go as scheduled on time, I had lots of time to capture the vivid emotions of these people… their anticipation, their patience of bearing those heavy drums round their neck and waiting for their turn to perform …. somehow made me capture this frame.

The most exciting part of these traditional forms are that it brings about a sense of cultural ethnicity amongst us in this fast paced IT Duniya. What say people? What are the most famous forms of folk dances in your part of the world?
